Martin Richard is the Executive Director, Communications and Marketing for the Canadian Paralympic Committee. With more than a decade of experience working in senior positions in the field of Sports Communications and Marketing, including a 10 period as the Director of Communications of Swimming Canada, Richard brings a diversified wealth of skills to his current role as it relates to media and public relations, broadcast, digital media, strategic planning, corporate communications and branding.
For the Sochi 2014 Winter Paralympic Games, he launched a world leading Broadcast model and created the first Canadian Paralympic Broadcast and Media Consortium, distributing fully assessable content to more than a quarter of all Canadians.
Over the span of his career, he secured long-term national broadcast partnerships, launched Digital web television portals, and spearheaded the development of PSA campaigns to educate Canadians on drowning prevention. He has led the communications activities for national teams at 2 Paralympic Games, 4 Olympic Games, 2 Commonwealth Games, several World Championships, Pan-Ams and World Cups. In addition, Richard was part of the Organizing Committee of the 4e Jeux de la Francophonie in Ottawa/Hull as part of the Marketing group.
Richard was named Swimming World Magazine’s 2012 Sport Information Director of the Year, and recipient of the Aquatic Federation President’s Award.
