Marc Dorion
Profile
Marc is one of the young guns on Team Canada. Despite paralysis caused by spinal bifida, Marc discovered the sport early. He began playing sledge hockey with the Ottawa Lasers when he was just four years old and hasn’t stopped since--thanks to programs of the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
When he was 16, Marc earned his spot on Team Canada due to his determination and strong work ethic. He is a fearless player on the ice and plays physically, driven by the goal of winning gold in Sochi 2014.
Sledge hockey has taken Marc around the world and back several times. He has gold medals from the 2008 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championships, the 2007 and 2008 World Sledge Hockey Challenge, as well as his 2006 Paralympic gold medal from Torino.
Originally from Bourget, Ontario, Marc is studying criminology at the University of Ottawa. He is a fan of the Ottawa Senators and the highly skilled Sens sniper Jason Spezza. Marc gets his inspiration from his parents and role models: his mother Connie and his father Roch, who is also a hockey player.
