It’s the Real Deal

The Petro-Canada Paralympic Schools Program is a free online teachers’ resource to help teachers engage students in the Paralympic Spirit. It provides teachers with the resources to educate students on Paralympic Sport and establish positive perceptions of people with a physical disability. Developed for elementary school students, paralympiceducation.ca provides multi-media lessons, student activities and lesson plans.

In the lead up to the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, the CPC has created six special lesson plans:

Visual Arts

Flat Flag Postcards to send to Paralympic Athletes

Visual Arts and Language Arts, Science or P.E.

Paralympic Sport Trading Cards

Understanding Disabilities of the Paralympic Athletes at 2010

Geography / Social Studies

In addition, an activity guide has been developed by the Ministry of Education for the Province of British Columbia in partnership with the Canadian Paralympic Committee and VANOC. The activity guide and complementary resources can be found on a special Paralympic Education section of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games website
