Ottawa, ON (March 11, 2011) – In celebration of the one-year anniversary of the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) would like to invite media to talk to Paralympic alpine star, Lauren Woolstencroft, five time gold medalist in 2010, and CPC’s CEO, Henry Storgaard. Lauren and Henry will share their greatest memories and highlight the significant strides that the Paralympic Movement has made as part of the legacy of the Games.
Known as the Paralympic Winter Games’ “Golden Girl” Lauren Woolstencroft is one of the best Para-Alpine skiers in the world winning eight gold, one silver, and one bronze medal won over three Paralympic Games.
After the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, Lauren continues to be recognized as one of the most accomplished Canadians in sport. Earlier this year, Lauren was named Canadian sport’s “Power 50” by the Globe and Mail, as well as British Columbian’s “B.C.’s best” through an online poll. Lauren was also nominated to the 2011 Laureus World Sport Award as World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability, and designated as one of the most influential women of 2010 by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Advancement (CAAW).
Storgaard led the Canadian Paralympic Committee during its first home Games last year. A veteran sport administrator, he is a recipient of a Gold Medal in marketing from Marketing Magazine.
