It is the first year that Paralympians have been invited to join Quebec’s Olympic winners at the Canadiens’ annual tribute to the province’s top amateur athletes.
The Paralympic athletes in attendance will be: wheelchair racer André Beaudoin, wheelchair racer Dean Bergeron, wheelchair basketball player David Eng, swimmer Benoit Huot, cycling pilot Mathilde Hupin, cyclist Geneviève Ouellet, wheelchair rugby player Daniel Paradis, wheelchair racer Chantal Petitclerc, swimmer Anne Polinario, cyclist Jean Quevillon, wheelchair racer Diane Roy and wheelchair rugby player Patrice Simard.
“We thank the Montreal Canadiens for recognizing the Quebec Paralympic athletes who reached the podium. They put in some truly amazing athletic performances in Beijing,” said Canadian Paralympic Committee President Carla Qualtrough.
