Meet Team Canada Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team 100 Days Before Start Of London 2012 Pararlympic Games

(Richmond, BC) With 100 days to go before competition starts at the London 2012 Paralympic Summer Games, members of the media areinvited to meet the Canadian Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team preparing for a potential record-setting fourth consecutive podium finish in London. Team Canada, will hold an open practice Tuesday May 22, 2012 from 3:00-5:00pm (PST) at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
May 22 will mark 100 days until competition begins at the London 2012 Paralympic Games! The Canadian Paralympic Committee is marking the day with media appearances by athletes across the country, and is also launching a Super Fan contest on Facebook, to win a trip to London for the Paralympic Games. Canada’s top male wheelchair basketball athletes will scrimmage - showcasing the elite skill and athleticism that has enabled Canada to win 2 gold and 1 silver medal at the last three Paralympic Games.

Team Canada features 3-time Paralympic medalists Patrick Anderson (Fergus, ON), who is widely considered the top wheelchair basketball player in the world, and veteran Richard Peter (Vancouver, BC) who will be competing in his fifth Paralympic Games.

The Senior Men’s National Team is amongst the top wheelchair basketball teams in the world. The Canadian Men are the defending silver medallists from the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games. They won back-to-back Paralympic gold medals in 2000 and 2004 and have reached the podium at five of the last six consecutive World Championships.
