International Para-cycling season kicks off next week: Canadian Para-Cycling Team travels to Australia for World Cup opener

The Canadian Cycling Association (CCA) is pleased to announce the athletes who have been selected to represent Canada for the upcoming 2011 UCI Para-Cycling World Cup event, held in Sydney, Australia, from May 4th to May 6th, 2011. 

The World Cup in Sydney, Australia kicks off the 2011 UCI Para-Cycling season. The road disciplines of Time Trial and Road Race will be presented at the Sydney Olympic Park and Eastern Creek International Raceway.

In total, the top international para-cyclists will be taking part in three World Cup events this season, as well as in the UCI Road World Championships in Roskilde, Denmark. Canada, in close collaboration with the Fédération québécoise des sports cyclistes, will be hosting the 2011 UCI Para-Cycling World Cup Finals from July 8-10 in Baie-Comeau, Québec. 

In addition to the UCI International Calendar, many domestic races will be held in Canada. The domestic season kicked off this past Wednesday with the Longhi Challenge in Blainville, QC and continues this weekend at the Défi Sportif in Montréal. 

This season, the National championships for both Road and Track will be fully integrated with the able-bodied National Championships.
