Paralympic Partners meet to network and discuss activation ideas
TORONTO, June 16, 2011 – Today’s Canadian Paralympic Committee Sponsorship Workshop brings together corporate partners to review activation strategies, discuss best practices and receive updates on Games plans.
The full-day event also offers sponsors the chance to mingle with champion athletes and be inspired! It all takes place at Corus Quay in downtown Toronto.
“This is a wonderful time to be a Paralympic supporter in Canada,” said François Robert, the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s Executive Director, Partnerships. “The growth we are seeing in the Paralympic Movement and in our corporate support is encouraging. Today’s Sponsorship Workshop will ensure our sponsors are well-positioned to maximize their program activations and are fully informed about upcoming Games plans, hospitality and marketing opportunities around the London 2012 Paralympic Games.”
The lunchtime keynote speaker is world record-holder Michelle Stilwell, a wheelchair racer who most recently won three gold medals at the 2010 world championships and also holds three Paralympic gold medals.
Other athletes in attendance include David Willsie (wheelchair rugby), Josh Cassidy (wheelchair racing), Tracey Ferguson (wheelchair basketball) and Benoît Huot (swimming).
With the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games as a catalyst, the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s support and scope are at an all-time high. Following those Games, the Canadian Paralympic Committee articulated a bold new vision: to be the world’s leading Paralympic nation. The Sponsorship Workshop is an important step towards that goal.
“Corporate sponsorship is essential to the success of the Canadian Paralympic team and we are certainly fortunate to have such a strong roster of dedicated supporters,” said Stilwell, who is training for the London 2012 Paralympics. “On behalf of the athletes here today, I’d like to thank all our sponsors. We’re delighted to work with them and help them make the most of their partnership with the Canadian Paralympic Committee.”
