On the final day of the inaugural Women’s U25 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships, Canada’s own Cindy Ouellet and Jamey Jewells were named as tournament All Stars.

Drawing on her experience as a member of Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team, Ouellet led Canada in points with a total of 119. She was the fourth-highest scorer in the tournament, was tied for third in rebounds with 69, and was third in assists with 36. Ouellet also earned an impressive four double-doubles in six games.

Jewells was recently named to the Senior Women’s National Team and has a reputation as one of the sport’s fastest-rising stars. Jewells delivered 18 points over the duration of this tournament and gave Team Canada a crucial advantage by defending larger, higher-classed players.

The United States’ Desiree Miller received tournament MVP honours. Miller provided crucial leadership for her team and scored 99 points overall, including an impressive 26 points in a victorious gold medal game.

The first-ever Women's U25 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships is a milestone event in the ongoing growth of wheelchair basketball around the globe and forges a legacy of unprecedented opportunity for young women in sport.
