The Canadian Paralympic Committee salutes the career and character of Para-Alpine ski legend William Harriott, a Paralympic gold medallist who died Mar. 21 in Calgary, Alta. of a sudden heart attack.
Harriott, 52, is a seven-time Paralympian who raced on the national team from 1986 to 2003 as an arm amputee and then as Christopher Williamson’s guide. The two won gold at the Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City in 2002.
“We are grateful for Bill’s leadership, longevityard work promoting the sport,” said Henry Storgaard, the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General. “Bill had an exceptional ski career, selflessly supporting the next and hgeneration of Para-Alpine athletes by moving on to ski as a guide after retiring from racing himself. We extend our sincere condolences to Bill’s family and friends.”
